Accounting Manager (Government Contracting)

Come be a part of a fast-growing small software company where you can build process and make a big impact! The Accounting Manager will be a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced and demanding environment. The selected candidate will have solid experience with cost accounting, managing monthly accounting close process to tight deadlines, delivering timely, accurate, and beneficial financial and operational reports, performing financial analysis, cash management, overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, budget and forecast/projections.   

  • Oversee accounting operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger entries
  • Ensure all accounting and finance responsibilities are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end consolidated and individual balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and financial reports.
  • Manage balance sheet accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Develop and assist in management of indirect rates and cash flow budgets
  • Provide financial information to auditors, and make sure all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for best accounting software.
  • Resolve errors and inaccuracies in the current accounting system. Research appropriate software technology for accounting and invoice processing.
  • Develop controls and ensure processes and procedures are in place and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Understand and articulate financial results and business drivers.
  • Effectively partner with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives
  • Assist with the budget and forecast preparation for the organization.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and government regulations such as DCMAA, FAR and CAS
  • Develop internal processes and policies and communicate updates to others as appropriate.
  • Perform audit reviews, as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or finance.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience
  • Minimum 5 years of government contracting experience
  • CPA a plus
  • Small company experience preferred
  • Experience in a GAAP compliant accounting system in a Government Contracting environment
  • Proficient with QuickBooks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Expert level Excel experience (pivot tables, etc.)
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide financial projections.
  • Ability to present to audiences at all levels throughout the organization
  • Effective communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
